A tour of the Mona Vale Beach path from Warriewood Beach. The complete path is between 500m and 1km, depending on where you measure from and a connector path to take you to the beginning of many other adventures. By itself this makes for the perfect entry-level adventure!
We begin on Narrabeen Park Parade, close to the entrance to Warriewood Beach. This start point has been chosen as it is the end point of the 3 headland walk from North Narrabeen Headland, through Turimetta Headland and finally Warriewood Headland. Join them together and you have something worthy of being added to a list of the best walks in Sydney.
If you would prefer, you can view the video direct on the Sunday Explorer YouTube channel instead (link opens in a new window). It would be highly appreciated if you could give the video a LIKE and consider hitting SUBSCRIBE, which will both help us to make more videos.
The paved section of the track was only completed in the last couple of years. Prior to paving the entire hill was only grass, which then joined with a gravel track that ran beside the Mona Vale Golf Course. The Mona Vale Public Hospital here has also undergone several changes in the last few years, with the Emergency department shutting down (moved to Northern Beaches Hospital) and new community health facilities being built.
Throughout the golf course section of this path be sure to stay alert for flying golf balls. There are various warning signs (reminder signs) along the way, as well as a protective cage that you can hide behind if you are waiting for someone to tee off and want to be 100% protected.
The shared path is fully paved and pram friendly. Take into consideration that it is almost entirely downhill from Warriewood to Mona Vale …so be default it is almost entirely uphill the way back from Mona Vale to Warriewood!
This would be the perfect entry-level adventure for someone who has a spare hour on the weekend, wants to be able to park right next to the track, but still wants to see some great views along the way.
The Mona Vale Beach end of the track provides you with a couple of different options for cafes, in either the strip of shops on Darley Street East, or the small cafe inside the Mona Vale Surf Club building …which is my favourite for a coffee, as it comes with the ocean views. Also always keep in mind the possibility of going for a swim in either the ocean or the Mona Vale ocean pool.
Mona Vale Beach Path – Other Adventures Nearby
Your options to for additional walks here are many. To the south I highly recommend the North Narrabeen Headland to Warriewood Beach Trail, which takes you via Turrimetta Beach and the location of the Warriewood Blowhole. You would be completing this in the reverse order to what is shown in that video, starting from the Warriewood end. To the north you can continue beyond the Mona Vale Beach car park a couple of hundred meters and walk along the Mona Vale Headland Reserve.
Mona Vale Beach Path – Getting There
For public transport, take the B-Line bus to Mona Vale and start at the Mona Vale Beach end. The Warriewood B-Line bus stop to the Warriewood end of the path is also an option, but a longer walk. If you have a car then parking is a breeze, with street parking available right next to Robert Dunn Reserve (also sometimes known as Monavale Headland Park) on Narrabeen Park Parade. At the Mona Vale end of the track there are parking options in either the Mona Vale Beach car park (paid parking), or you can hunt for free street parking, which will most likely come down to luck depending on the time of year.
